Carla Bruni's lovers

A controversial new book examining the "secret life and lovers" of Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is to be published in France this month.Lawyers for French President Nicolas Sarkozy's third wife are said to be bracing themselves for the release of the work by Besma Lahouri. Security around the book is tight and the Paris publishers, Flammarion, have not even disclosed its title. "The principal story is about a fast-living adventuress with an obsession with wealth and fame. Nobody from Carla's camp has assisted with anything. This is a proper, unbiased investigation into a world-famous former model, pop singer and first lady." Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy famously declared that "monogamy bores me" just before marrying Mr Sarkozy two years ago. She has had affairs with a string of high-profile men including the English rock stars Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton. A source at the Elysée Palace said any attacks on Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy, including in biographies, would be viewed "very seriously". - Peter Allen in Paris

Tom Sachs

"Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU)," 2007With each passing year, Sachs goes deeper into his "Space Program" project, making reproductions, models, and artworks based on NASA’s Apollo missions. In 2007 he went so far as to recruit firms like Nike and Prada to help design products for his show at Gagosian Beverly Hills. The resulting line of items — jackets, shoes, and more, all white — provides a sleek, sporty twist on the stuffy sartorial style of 1960s lunar exploration.

Smockshop

The smockshop is an artist run enterprise that generates income for artists whose work is either non-commercial, or not yet self sustaining. A smock is a simple double wrap around garment designed by Andrea Zittel - then sewn by artists who reinterpret the original design. As an active testament to Zittel’s principle that "rules make us more creative", each resulting smock is completely unique and one of a kind.
