Swimsuit Designer Sylvie Cachay

The beautiful swimsuit designer found dead in a bathtub at the swanky Soho House was strangled and drowned, the Medical Examiner's Office ruled yesterday. Sylvie Cachay, 33, was found partially clothed in the overflowing bathtub in her room at the ritzy hotel early on Dec. 9. She was killed by a combination of strangulation and drowning, said an ME spokeswoman. Cachay -- who had attended the Paris School of Art and Design and started the swimsuit line Syla -- had wounds on her neck, bleeding in her eyes and a bite mark on her hand. Her boyfriend, Nick Brooks, whose dad is Oscar-winning songwriter -- and accused rapist -- Joseph Brooks, will likely face upgraded charges of murder. - NY Post

Richie Rich

DEC 29 2010
A mannequin dressed as party boy Richie Rich was stolen from the Dropout bash at Don Hill's Sunday night. The "deejay" is usually a mannequin dressed up as a celebrity seated behind a laptop computer with a programmed playlist. One partygoer told us, "The crowd" -- including Rich himself -- "was wild and dancing late when two guys apparently rolled the mannequin out the back exit like a drunk date." Organizers were reviewing security tapes to see if they could nab the thieves, but so far, "Richie" hasn't been recovered. A rep for the bar didn't get back to us. - NY Post

IMPORTANT UPDATE
Jan 2 2011
A mannequin dressed as club kid/designer Richie Rich that disappeared from Don Hill's two weeks ago has been found -- with its blond wig missing. We reported that the life-size plastic doll that sits behind the DJ booth was rolled out of the club by two unidentified men during Don Hill's Sunday-night Dropout party, but a source reports that it mysteriously reappeared intact and fully clothed at Don Hill's days later -- except for the wig. The mannequin will be in the DJ booth for the next Dropout party tonight.

Carine Roitfeld

PARIS - Paris Vogue says its editor-in-chief, Carine Roitfeld, has decided to leave after a 10-year tenure in which the French fashion monthly became "a worldwide reference and indispensable magazine." Under Roitfeld, French Vogue has lived up to its reputation for pushing the envelope and has continued to be much edgier than its more commercial U.S. counterpart, with lots of nudes and sometimes overtly sex-seeped or disturbing spreads. Roitfeld made waves with a recent shoot that featured supermodel Lara Stone in blackface, for example.

DecorMyEyes

Russian-born Brooklyn businessman Vitaly Borker, who runs the Internet eyewear site DecorMyEyes, has a strange approach to customer service. When someone is unhappy with their purchase, he berates them over the telephone and sends them harassing emails. Hundreds of his clients have written scathing reviews of his site, disputed his charges on their credit cards, and reported him to government officials. But Borker wants it that way, because he’s discovered that all of the online outrage boosts his Google ranking and multiplies his profits. New shoppers rarely bother to look up customer reviews, and some of them have ended up with Borker sending them photos of their houses and threatening to kill them.

Rima Fakih & Davina Reeves

There was one beauty queen too many at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade when uninvited Miss New York Davina Reeves crashed Miss USA Rima Fakih's float. Reeves, wearing her Miss New York sash and crown, managed to claw her way onto Fakih's float, and began enthusiastically signing autographs and waving to the crowd as the parade got under way. Reeves hitched a ride for five blocks before Fakih's horrified handlers managed to persuade parade organizers to boot her pageant rival off the float. Our source said, "It was like a scene out of 'Miss Congeniality.' Miss New York somehow managed to get through security and get herself onto Miss USA's 'Pep Rally' float. "The real queen, Rima Fakih, kept her cool and her claws in. She gently spoke to Miss New York while Rima's handler feverishly worked his iPhone to see why the uninvited extra queen was standing side by side with the reigning Miss USA," the source said. "Beneath the fixed smiles, handlers realized this wasn't going to work as Miss New York began trying to hog the limelight. Finally, five blocks into the route, parade officials and the float manager politely asked her to leave, and she was helped down before disappearing into the crowd." Paula Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, parent of Miss USA, said, "Miss New York wasn't invited and nobody had any idea how she got on the float. She turned up in full pageant regalia, and she was initially asked to take off her crown so not to outshine Miss USA. Then, five blocks into the parade route, she was asked to leave. " Fakih, previously Miss Michigan, beat Austin native Reeves and a host of other beauties to be crowned Miss USA 2010 in May. The parade stunt was a final bow for Reeves, who will pass her Miss New York crown to the next beauty picked by the organization this weekend in Albany. Miss Universe pageant owner Donald Trump wasn't available for comment. Reeves didn't get back to us. - NY Post

artistic and tasteful shots

Irina Shayk is claiming that GQ Spain Photoshopped images so that she would appear naked without her permission, and is considering legal action. The Russian model, girlfriend of soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, posed for the December cover wearing lingerie, but her reps say editors Photoshopped off her underclothes to expose her rear end in several shots inside the issue. "In every image photographed, Ms. Shayk was dressed in lingerie in the artistic and tasteful shots done by photographer Vincent Peters, but due to negligence on GQ's part it seems as if Ms. Shayk 'posed' entirely nude, which is false," said Elite Model Management. It said Shayk's contract gave her approval over the interview and photos, but she "was refused that right by the publication." GQ Spain editor Javier Fernandez de Angulo, who was present during the shoot, told Britain's Sun, "The model took her clothes off completely naturally." - NY Post

Naomi Campbell's former agent, Carole White, claims she has evidence in her $10 million suit to prove the supermodel was aware of her role as a principal in Moodform Mission, the fragrance company that produced Campbell's perfume. In a taped conversation from July 11, 2006, Campbell's manager, Bruno Michel, calls White "partner" and says they had talked about commissions "20,000 times." Campbell's countersuit claims that White misrepresented her role in the fragrance company. White's lawyer says the tape supports their case that Campbell knew of White's role. Campbell's rep said, "The allegation is unequivocally denied." - NY Post

Stephanie Seymour up for sale

Art collectors are looking to make big bucks from selling works based on Stephanie Seymour. A nude print of the model by Richard Avedon will be for sale at Sotheby's in Paris on Nov. 19. The print, part of a private European collection, is expected to rake in as much as $210,000. The offer comes on the heels of a bust of Seymour by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan netting $2.4 million at Phillips de Pury this week, beating expectations of $1.5 million-$2 million. Sources say the sales could be timed to exploit her and husband Peter Brant's headline-hitting divorce, which ended in reconciliation. - NY Post

Drawing Fashion

Drawing Fashion celebrates a unique collection of some of the most remarkable fashion illustrations from the twentieth and twenty first centuries. These original works define the fine art of illustrating fashion, from the collections of Chanel, Dior, Comme des Garçons and Poiret as well as Viktor & Rolf, Lacroix and McQueen. This exhibition showcases fashion illustrators at their creative heights: Lepape at the beginning of the century, Gruau in the 40's and 50's, Antonio throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s, to current artists Mats Gustafson, Aurore de la Morinerie and Francois Berthoud. Film-clips, news reels, music and photography will sit alongside the original illustrations to reflect not only the spirit and the style of the decades but also the wider social and cultural changes of the century. It will be the first time this collection, which was put together over 30 years by Joelle Chariau of Galerie Bartsch & Chariau, has been displayed.

J5

Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Randy Jackson, and Michael Jackson's estate, are launching a clothing line called J5, WWD reports. The first collection will hit stores -- including Urban Outfitters and Kitson -- come spring and will include replicas of the leather jackets Michael wore in the "Thriller" and "Beat It" videos for about $600 and a series of t-shirts priced from $32 to $58. Jackie Jackson told WWD, "The jackets are incredible. They are the real thing. I didn't really think of them as tributes to Michael in the beginning, but that's what they are. They represent everything he stood for and everything he's done in this industry, 100 percent." He added, "I've been wanting to do this for a long time. I've seen other friends be successful with their lines, like Puffy with Sean John. I've been in this business for a long time and our name is known around the world." The brothers started working on the duds a week after Michael's funeral. They're planning to add footwear and glasses in the future. - The Huffington Post
