John Galliano arrested for alleged antisemitism

Fashion designer John Galliano has been arrested in Paris after allegedly making antisemitic remarks. French police officials told AFP that the British designer was taken into custody for “minor violence”. Mr Galliano, the chief designer for fashion house Dior, was said to have accosted a couple while they were eating at a cafĂ© in Paris’ Marais district. police spokesman said witnesses reported that Mr Galliano had “sworn heavily” and used “anti-Jewish insults” before he attacked the couple. The designer has been released pending charges but the spokesman said it was unclear what had prompted the incident. - Jennifer Lipman THE JEWISH CHRONICLE

Galliano responded by bringing a suit for "defamation" against the couple, his lawyer Stephane Zerbib said late Friday, just days before Paris Fashion Week starts. Galliano's lawyer told AFP the designer "formally denies the accusations of anti-Semitism made against him." - Charles Onians AP

"History of Models"

"I can't get tickets," she told Page Six, saying that the last time she's been to a show was two years ago. "Ever since then, I haven't bothered to try. But sitting in front of the stage watching the girls is too hard to watch. It's like actors watching other actors work -- you either get jealous, or you get mortified for them." Porizkova will join Lauren Hutton, Jessica White, Heidi Klum and other mannequins in a documentary, Modelinia's "History of Models," premiering Thursday on NYC Life.
