"Those queenie fashion designers became her children," says Detmar Blow.

Detmar Blow says baby would have saved fashion icon Isabella Blow from suicideDetmar Blow, husband of tragic fashion icon Isabella Blow, believes a baby could have saved his wife from suicide. "I definitely think that if Issie would have had a child, she would have survived," Detmar, who married her in 1989, told Page Six. "But it was too much of a burden to bear." Art dealer Detmar, along with Tom Sykes, has written "Blow by Blow," a book on the life of his wife, known for her hawkish looks and collection of custom headresses. The troubled muse helped discover designers Alexander McQueen and Philip Treacy and models Sophie Dahl and Stella Tennant. Blow committed suicide by drinking weed-killer in 2007 after a lifelong battle with depression. Detmar points out in "Blow" how her illness stemmed from the guilt she felt from the accidental death of her brother, who suffocated after drowning in a pond at age 2. "She definitely felt blame from her mother [Helen]," Detmar told us. Isabella had several abortions when she was young but would later try and fail to have a child with Detmar after several rounds of in-vitro before she was diagnosed with cancer. Detmar discovered that Isabella would burn intimate areas of her body with cigarettes toward the end of her life. She would tell him she'd "failed in her biological function as a woman," he told us. But friendships with Andy Warhol, Andre Leon Talley and other fashion greats sustained her. "Those queenie fashion designers became her children," says Detmar. McQueen committed suicide in February. Detmar said fashion-world fickleness was too much for Isabella to handle. She "was like a tree with no roots. I poured all the love I had over her, but she blew over." Detmar has been approached to do a movie on his wife, but "I want to get a really good person to do it." Those include family friend Tim Burton, Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino or Harvey Weinstein. Who might play Isabella: "Some people suggested Lady Gaga, and I think that would be appropriate, if she can act." - NY Post
